Winter's Night Walk

Dear Earth Star,

I had just gotten back from a winter's night walk when I received an e-mail from Standing Elk. The subject? Star Beacon.

It snowed for hours that day. Everywhere was fresh and everywhere was love, and the sky was overcast with clouds. As I stood in the middle of a 50-acre field, I started singing a Lakota Giving Thanks song. Then, looking up to give things (to the southwest), there was a single star with a beacon -- looking right back to me! I felt all the love of the Creator right there and then, just for me and for everyone.

My two four-leggeds were with me. I sang and sang while Shaama and Saasha ran round and round. Then, to the southeast, Miss Moon appeared! So I walked across the field to the courtyard of the three-story junior high school. The ground was covered with snow except for a round dark circle. I checked it out and it was a round metal grate that was hollow (way hollow) underneath. Standing on the grate, I started toning. (The acoustics were out of this world!)

I continued singing the Lakota Giving Thanks song to Miss Moon. Two stars were above her, to her right, and the Beacon Star. I was in love and where I belonged.

After about what seemed timeless, the two four-leggeds started barking, out of sight. I stopped and went to see what all the seriousness was about. Well, they were focused on the side double doors (of the school). As I walked over, half blinded by the night light, something very strange-looking emerged from the half-opened door. Looking somewhat human in form, but not... it had a huge, oblong tank on its back and a tube coming out of its stomach -- all the way to the ground! I hastened my pace, because the dogs were up close and sniffing, then jumping back in mid-air. The human-like figure would lean down to them while the nozzly part would jiggle.

Well, it was the custodian with a battery-powered vacuum on his back, with a tubular nozzle around his side and in his left hand, which he was holding close to his tummy.

After everyone calmed down, he asked what kind of dog Shaama was. Well, I told him chow and shepherd, but that she looked like a pure Japanese dog. He agreed. Then he told that his dog... well, actually his son's dog... just died and that he'd wait till next spring to get another. He said, "I'll be retiring then." He went right on to tell me that right after the second world war he was out in the field near the school when a B-52 crashed into the foothills (about an eighth of a mile away). It was a cornfield then. The owner's son was right near the crash, but couldn't get to it very fast because he just had his appendix out.

I asked the custodian if the pilot lived. He said he didn't think so, because all they found was a boot with a foot in it. I said, "Whoa, dude," and told him I would be working up the hill at Capital High School in the spring. He said, "I remember back in 1964, when I was working up at Capital. I asked my boss if I could get time off in the spring to go to Yellowstone. Well, he said no, that everyone wanted time off then. I told him I had already asked a while ago, so my boss said, 'Yes.' "

Looking down toward the ground a bit sadly, he said to me, "I'm going to retire next spring," and I said, "Yep, you deserve it." He said, "Nice talkin' to ya," and I said, "Nice talkin' to you, too."

We shook hands and I surrounded him with love and light and walked away under the starry, cloudy, moonlit night.

Love and blessings! My heart smiles to hear that the Lunar Eclipse ceremony with Standing Elk and love have brought some peace to the heart of your soulmate and you.

EDITOR'S NOTE: I was moved by Drummer Girl's story and wrote to ask about her. She replied: "I was born an Aries in the Year of the Snake, under the presence of Mount Shasta. I have traveled around the world a bit. Standing Elk and I were connected in Boulder County, Colo. I now breathe and air and drink the water of Boise, Idaho. My main reason for a walk that Friday night was to pray for my friend, Fork Tongue, who was having trouble while in surgery. Her heart had stopped, but through the love and prayers of many she is doing well and has no pain since her operation -- no pain medications!"
