Happy Birthday, Mom
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: It's Mom's 84th birthday
My mother turned 84 today. She is cherished by all six of her kids, as well as 14 grandchildren (hope I got that count right!), in addition to nine great-grandchildren!

Mom was a "stay home" mother all the time that I was growing up in that suburb of Madison, Wis. We could always count on her being there when we got home from school.

I remember piles of laundry waiting to be ironed, lots of "hot dish" meals, and the morning coffee klutches on summer days with the neighbors. Mom was always calm, never in a hurry to get housework done, and she enjoyed her TV "stories."

For decades she longed to return to the warm climate of Southern California, and in 1993 she and Dad made it as far as Nevada, where she is today... but without Dad as he made his transition in 1999. She loves the desert clime and her house and her interaction with Eastern Star and the church.

Hope your birthday is fantastic, Mother!!!
