Psychologists can determine an individual’s
personality by knowing their favorite color. If you get lots of junk e-mail
like I do, you’ve probably seen one that goes around asking which color you
like, and then after you choose, it tells you what kind of person you are. I’m
sure there are grad students in psychology who have devoted hours of research
on that sort of thing. As for myself, I don’t put a lot of faith in it.
But I do like to have fun. So I’m going to explore soul colors this month. I’m
going to give my biased opinion of people who have favorite colors. In no way
is this scientific, logical or even to be taken the slightest bit seriously.
So don’t get bent out of shape if I happen to mis-speculate on your favorite
color.
RED
— People who are overly fond of RED are intense, excitable, enthusiastic
individuals who enjoy being the center of attention or the life of the party.
They are passionate, devoted to a cause, “speak-your-truth” guys and gals, who
like to hug a lot, who like to show off, and probably would get bored living
in my small mountain town. If RED people are in any way metaphysical, they are
not afraid to show it.
ORANGE — If
ORANGE is your favorite color, you most likely are a warm, caring
individual who reaches out to help others. You enjoy the beach, cruises,
jungle hikes, and you tend to look at things in a positive manner —
optimistically. Your temper may flare a bit when your feathers get ruffled,
and you have strong opinions about what you believe is right. Your sense of
humor is jolly and you tend to enjoy puns.
YELLOW —
YELLOW is bright and alive, just as the person who favors it. Yours
is a sunny disposition, for the most part, but you also have a tendency to
brood when things go awry. YELLOW souls have no desire to be in the
foreground; they thrive behind the scenes and are the workhorses in almost
every situation where team work is in effect. Where would our world be without
these people?
GREEN — Ah...
GREEN, the color of nature lovers and healers.
GREEN people care
a whole lot, especially about their surroundings and the people in their
lives. They are natural-born healers, whether they are aware of this or not.
Nurturers, mystics, lovers and caregivers. If GREEN is your favorite color,
you might consider learning a healing art, or joining an activist group to
help the planet.
BLUE — Souls who love
BLUE seem to be many. I’m not sure why this is, but it’s
cool to like BLUE.
BLUE is the color of dreamers, and of seekers of Truth.
BLUE people tend to take life seriously, to explore new studies and to soak up
knowledge. They also enjoy listening to the “BLUES,” not because they are
BLUE themselves but because it is soothing and relaxes them.
BLUE souls go
with the flow.
INDIGO — Okay, help me out here. What the heck is the color
INDIGO? I’ve never
heard of anybody who claimed that INDIGO was their favorite color. My
dictionary says “dark blue,” but I’ve never been exactly sure. From studying chakras I know that
INDIGO corresponds to the sixth chakra, or Third Eye. This
brings to mind psychics, fortune tellers, yogis, those who tend to meditate a
lot. We’ve all heard of Indigo children, of the movie Indigo (just released),
and I think anyone whose favorite color is indigo must be very intuitive, and
perhaps very high on the spiritual ladder.
VIOLET —
PURPLE (or VIOLET) people, I’ve heard, are very spiritual. Is this
true? I can’t say. I love the color PURPLE, but I must admit it’s a toss-up
for me over which I like better — blue and green — or
VIOLET. PURPLE has
always attracted me, however. People who like PURPLE tend to follow a
different drummer, to take the road less traveled — that sort of thing. In a
way, that describes my esoteric life. PURPLE souls are loving, compassionate,
disciplined, enthusiastic and wise. You’ll want to be in their light.
Well, there you have it, the spectrum of souls in the opinion of one editor.
But what about black and white? I know people who will say BLACK is their
favorite color. BLACK is the absence of all color. What does this mean? That
they lack spirituality? Not necessarily. BLACK can stand for many good things
— reverence and respect, for instance.
And what about WHITE? Nobody ever told me their favorite color was
WHITE, yet
WHITE is a combination of all the colors of the rainbow. We talk about the
White Brotherhood, the White Light... and yet without all of the other colors
we wouldn’t have WHITE. And we must have BLACK to appreciate WHITE.
All of the colors make up our world and our spirituality. We can learn from
and grow by using all of the colors in our life and use them to balance
ourselves and the world around us.
