Before you begin, gather the following items:
- One bottle of 100 percent pure maple syrup. The darker the better. You’ll want to find organic Grade B if you can,
just as long as it’s the real thing.
- 6 to 10 fresh lemons. Fresh-picked over store-bought, but get what you can.
A juicer would be good too, since you will be squeezing the juice out.
- Small jar of crushed cayenne pepper.
- One box of Traditional Medicinals "Smooth Move" herbal laxative
- One box of peppermint tea
That’s it. Costs a little over $20 if you don’t have any of it.
During the fast you will drink a tea-nectar made from the above ingredients.
For every 10 ounces of tea, mix:
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
- Half a lemon’s juice
- 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne
This is the same for both types of tea.
Enjoy one more meal the night before your fast. Mark the time you
stopped eating. Get some rest and first thing in the morning make some
Smooth Move tea and drink it. Each day of the fast, take the Smooth
Move first thing in the morning and right before bed. You can start the
night before the fast if you want, but I waited till the following
morning to get all the ingredients.
When you drink the Smooth Move, that is exactly what will happen. You
will move and it will be more than smooth. It will be liquid. Bowel
movements are important during the fast. You should have at least two
movements per day, if not more.
During the time in between, make a large quantity (about a quart or so)
of peppermint tea with the same proportions of the ingredients and
drink it any time you feel hungry throughout the day. Half a quart to
a quart should last you all day. Don’t chug it all at once. Be sure to
drink an equal amount of water. This is all you get for three days.
Enjoy. The tea is actually really good. Has a fizzy flavor from the
cayenne.
This is all you have to do. It’s really quite simple, yet it is a
challenge of willpower. I wanted to give up the first day as did many
of my friends who’ve tried it. The Smooth Move may make you feel ill
or cramp up your stomach as it did mine. This is your body taking out
the trash.
But the second day you will begin to feel really good. You will have
more energy than you think and your mind will be clear. Persevere
through 72 hours and your first bite of food will taste so good, it’ll
all be worthwhile. Make sure your first meal is light, like a salad or
some soup. Good luck.
