Relative Reality — The Physical
Experience

What is reality? What is illusion? There are many mystical schools that teach
everything in the physical dimension is mere illusion and that only the
Source, or God, is real. Perhaps the truth is not so cut and dried.
Through my studies of metaphysics and quantum physics, I have come to
understand that everything in the physical universe is vibrating energy,
always in a constant state of change. Objects appearing solid are actually
composed of mostly space, and the observer in the physical world directly
affects the observed.
Through our thoughts and
beliefs we create our own reality, as we are divine creative beings. Are these
indications that we are living in a vast illusion? Perhaps so. Regardless of
whether our experience here is real or not, the physical realm serves a vital
purpose and should not be taken lightly.
I like to refer to the
universe as relative reality and the Godhead as ultimate reality. Ultimate
reality is an unchanging energy field of Light, Love, joy and peace. It is the
realm of pure potentiality from which relative reality is born. It is in
relative reality where we can learn, grow, experience and create whom we wish
to be.
Physicality offers us
wonderful opportunities to create, which is our very nature. Relative reality
allows us to know ourselves experientially, which we can only know
conceptually in ultimate reality. For example, we are the Light in both
realities. In ultimate reality all there is, is Light. Being all there is, we
have nothing to compare ourselves to. There is no contrast, no relativity. How
can we know that something is hot if there is no cold? Tall is a meaningless
concept, unless there is short.
To know and experience
ourselves as the Light, do we not need darkness? A candle in the sun would
shine as brightly, but could only know that it was shining when placed in a
darkened room. Could the purpose of darkness be an opportunity for us to know
and remember that we are the Light? Could we know that we are loving if there
was no hatred? Would we value life without death? (Of course, death is an
illusion as we are spiritual beings, not bodies.)
Are the negative aspects
of life designed to be opportunities to remember the truth of our being?
Search your heart. Search
your soul. The answer lies within.
