Are You a Victim?

          It never ceases to amaze me how many times the word
“victim” is used during a typical news broadcast. With fear so prevalent on Earth, it is difficult to break free of this victim mentality and move into creator mentality. As a victim, we can blame the things outside of ourselves for all of our problems, illnesses and unhappiness. Victim mentality says “You did this to me.” “I am this way because this happened to me.”
          Victim mentality leaves us small and powerless. We are helpless and at the mercy of things that are out of our control. Emanating from the ego, or small self, victim mentality is based on fear. Ironically, people are very comfortable with playing the role of the victim. The world has been at this level of awareness for thousands of years. Victimization does have some advantages that your ego enjoys. As a victim you can receive attention and sympathy from your peers. You also do not have to assume responsibility for the negative events in your life. After all, no one said that life is fair!
          As we grow in awareness and move higher into the vibration of light and love, we can begin to leave this mindset behind. We can then enter into creator mentality. From this higher perspective, we realize that there really are no victims at all! Creator mentality is a state of empowerment. Once we remember that we are a child of God and creator of our own reality, we understand that all events in our lives were drawn to us at some level for our higher growth and spiritual evolution. We can then welcome all of these events and experiences without labeling them as good or bad.
          From this state of Being, we can receive the greatest gift of all — inner peace. We know that we are really powerful Beings who are eternal and safe. It can be a challenge to take full responsibility for your creations. It is so much easier to revert back into victim consciousness and blame someone or something else.
          Like many other spiritual disciplines, it is necessary to step back and see things from a higher perspective. Ask for guidance, meditate and be mindful of your thoughts. It may seem scary at first to say “Yes, I created this.” When you come to fully realize just what a powerful creator you are, you will know that you have no limits. From there you can begin the task of consciously creating your reality. Happy creating!
